Does anyone know a simple biscuit recipe that does not include shortening?

*Here's one made with only butter instead~








E-Z Drop Biscuits





INGREDIENTS





* 2 cups all-purpose flour


* 1 tablespoon baking powder


* 2 teaspoons white sugar


* 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar


* 1/4 teaspoon salt


* 1/2 cup melted butter


* 1 cup milk





DIRECTIONS





1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).


2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt. Stir in butter and milk just until moistened. Drop batter on a lightly greased cookie sheet by the tablespoon.


3. Bake in preheated oven until golden on the edges, about 8 to 12 minutes. Serve warm.Does anyone know a simple biscuit recipe that does not include shortening?
2 cups self rising flour


1 cup milk


4 tbsp butter


Roll out dough 1'; thick on floured surface.

no such thing...without shortening they are flour and water lumps, not biscuits
Get a box of Bisquick. Follow the recipe on back. Perfect every time.
Yes. Buy ';Bisquick';. It makes wonderful tasting drop biscuits. Also it's economic.
Here is one I found on recipezaar. It is rated highly and doesn't have shortening. Hope this helps!
cream biscuits


2 cups self rising flour


1 tablespoon sugar


1 and a half cups heavy whipping cream


mix together kneed 5-7 times


dust with flour and cut out


bake on 450 for 10 minutes





these are very good and easy to make

3/4 tsp salt





Stir together in a bowl. Make well in centre. Add 1/4 cup mayo and 3/4 cups milk. Stir to moisten until soft dough forms. Roll out and cut into rounds. Bake 425 for 10-12 min. The easiest biscuit recipe ever.
