What is the EASIEST and best tasting biscuit recipe?

If you can spare the extra fat and calories, make James Beard's Cream Biscuits. Very simple recipe, easy to make, and the texture is so light and fluffy, you won't believe it. :) Definitely the best biscuits I've ever eaten. (Make sure you don't overwork your dough or your biscuits will be tough.

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

2 teaspoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 to 1 1/2 cups heavy cream

1 stick unsalted butter, melted and cooled

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Slowly add 1 cup of the cream, stirring with a rubber spatula, to form a smooth dough. Add up to 1/2 cup additional cream if mixture is too dry, being careful not to overwork the dough or the biscuits will be tough.

Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and pat into a square, about 1/2-inch thick. Cut into 12 squares and dip into the melted butter to coat on all sides. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake until golden brown, 10 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and serve hot. What is the EASIEST and best tasting biscuit recipe?

Easiest and best are 2 different things. Easiest - pick some up from KFC. Best - made from scratch with flour, butter, and buttermilk. I don't have a scratch recipe on hand, or I'd include it here, but if you search foodtv.com, the best one there is by Alton Brown from his show Good Eats.
just put some cream or butter on a biscuit any biscuit can taste better by doing this..
popeyes.......mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The absolute best and easiest we make is

JP's Big Daddy Biscuits. I found this on allrecipes.com and have since tossed all other recipes for biscuits out including my moms! LOL:

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon white sugar

1/3 cup shortening

1 cup milk

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually stir in milk until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.

3. Turn out onto a floured surface, and knead 15 to 20 times. Pat or roll dough out to 1 inch thick. Cut biscuits with a large cutter or juice glass dipped in flour. Repeat until all dough is used. Brush off the excess flour, and place biscuits onto an ungreased baking sheet.

4. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges begin to brown.

In fact we had these last night with sausage gravy...pure heaven!!!!
My grandmother handed down this recipe to me and she was a professional baker. It has never let me down and are wonderful!

Angel Biscuits:

1 pkg. dry yeast

14 cups warm water

2 1/2 cups flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2 Tbsp sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup buttermilk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Let yeast dissolve in warm water and set aside.

Mix all dry ingredients together as listed.

Cut shortening into dry ingredients.

Stir in buttermilk and yeast mixture.

Knead dough lightly on floured board or countertop.

Cut out biscuits.

Place on a greased pan and allow to rise before baking

(I cover mine with a damp towel and let sit on the stove...they will not rise as much as yeast rolls.)

Place pan in oven and bake for about 12 - 15 minutes!

Enjoy!

Hope you try this and like it as much as my family does!
