Sour cream biscuits

these will be very soft and flaky
2 cups of self-rising flour, 2/3 cup milk(buttermilk if you have it),

1/2 cups shortening or softened butter.

cut shortening or butter into mis using a fork or pastry cutter. then add milk. stir till moistened and comes away from the bowl. turn out on a floured surface. kneed gently..turning a 1/2 turn until

dough is springy. cut with either a glass or coffee cup. place on greased baking sheet. bake in oven at 375 until done usually 15-20 minutes.
2 cups bread flour

5 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon shortening

1 cup milk and water in equal parts

1 tablespoon butter

Mix dry ingredients, and sift twice.

Work in butter and shortening with tips of fingers; add gradually the liquid, mixing with knife to a soft dough.

It is impossible to determine the exact amount of liquid, owing to differences in flour.

Toss on a floured board, pat and roll lightly to one-half inch in thickness.

Shape with a biscuit-cutter.
Using Bisquick or Baking Mix:

preheat to 450

2 1/4 cups Bisquick or Baking Mix

2/3 cup milk

Stir ingredients until soft dough forms, Drop by spoonfuls onto baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

Fast Easy Biscuits

2 cups all purpose flour

6 teaspoons baking powder

6 tablespoons butter or margarine

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg

milk (at least half a cup)

Mix flour, baking powder, butter, and salt until well mixed. When pressed together, it should hold it's shape, but crumbled once disturbed. Add egg and approx 1/4 cup of milk. Mix well. Add milk until you reach desired consistency.

Softer dough means lighter, softer biscuits. For stiffer, more filling biscuits, use stiffer dough.

Turn onto well floured surface, and roll to 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Biscuits will double in size when baked. Cut into circles, and let rest for 5 - 10 minutes.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 -12 minutes (until lightly golden) enjoy
Use Depp_Lover's recipe. Yes, you can use a drinking glass as a cutter; just make sure you have some flour on the inside and outside rim first. Sometimes, I take the lazy way out and just cut them into square shapes instead of the typical rounds. The baking time would be more like one big shortcake if you tried to bake them in a loaf.
