A really nice, easy sweet pudding ( I am English, we say pudding for the course after the main meal).
Take your biscuit wrap and surround a hlaved pear with it.
Halve the pear and peel it- take out the core, and wrap the biscuit around the rounded half.
Sprinkle a little sugar and powdered vanilla and cinammon on the flat side of the pear, and place the pear flat side down, on a greased baking tray. Bake for 10 minutes in a hot oven.
The sugar will have caramelized. So you need to spatula it off the tray ( if your granddaughter wasnt't there, or maybe later on....you can put the tray on a gentle flame oan douse it with a touch of brandy, which loosens the caramel from the tray and makes it the perfect touch to eat.)
Eat the pear warm with whipped cream.
can also make with apple.
I assume you mean fun things to make with prepackaged dough? Here's a recipe that got some pretty good reviews on allrecipes.com (I love that site!), using crescent roll dough:
You'll need:
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
2 (10 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle citrus soda (mountain dew, etc)
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set aside. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles. Roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough starting at the smallest end. Pinch to seal and place in the baking dish.
3. Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Pour over the apple dumplings. Pour Mountain Dew over the dumplings.
4. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
Other than this recipe, and the obvious ';pigs in a blanket';, you can also do biscuit sandwiches- let your granddaughter pick the fillings and assemble the sandwiches after the biscuits have cooled. Here are some other fun, easy things the two of you might enjoy doing in the kitchen:
Jello jigglers- I used to love making jello when I was a kid, and especially making it in different shapes. Allow it to gel in a thin layer on a cookie sheet, and then use cookie cutters to make different shapes. Tons of fun for little kids!
Pudding- Make pudding and then have all kinds of mix-ins to choose from. I especially like the ';dirt pudding';- chocolate pudding layered with crushed cookies and topped with gummi worms. Kids really love that, too.
Of course, cookies are always lots of fun, and brownies, too. Very traditional, but also tasty ;-)
Other easy little things she can do might be to tear up lettuce for a salad (obviously not with a knife- just have her tear the lettuce in to pieces and put it in a bowl), washing produce, adding seasonings to sauces or graves, little safe things like that.
